What is pip value?
A pip is the smallest standard price move in a currency pair. Pip value is how much money one pip is worth for your position size — the number you need before you can size a trade or set a stop-loss in dollars.
How pip value works
For most USD-quoted major pairs (EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD), one pip on a 1.00 standard lot is worth roughly $10, $1 on a 0.10 lot and $0.10 on a 0.01 micro lot. Cross pairs and gold differ, so calculate before you trade.
Once you know pip value, plug it into the lot size calculator to size positions precisely.
