The one MetaTrader setting that breaks every licensed EA
If you ever install a licensed EA — ours or anyone else's — and it sits on the chart doing
nothing, this is almost always why.
MetaTrader will not let an EA reach the internet unless you have explicitly allowed the
address. Until you do, the EA cannot check its licence, so it refuses to trade.
Tools → Options → Expert Advisors → tick "Allow WebRequest for listed URL", then add:
No trailing slash, no path after it. Click OK, then remove the EA from the chart and drag it
back on.
Two things people get wrong here:
- Typing the address with a slash on the end. MetaTrader matches it literally.
- Adding it while the EA is already running. The setting is read when the EA starts, so it
needs a restart to take effect.
If it still will not validate after that, post the exact line from the Experts tab here —
not a description of it, the actual line. That tells me in one read what is wrong.
